7 Ways to Use Social Media for Your Alcohol Brand

There are many ways that businesses can use social media to promote their products and engage with their customers. Here are a few ideas:

  1. Set up a company page on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and use them to share updates about your products, new releases, sales, and special promotions.

  2. Use hashtags and key platform features to make it easier for customers to find your content and join the conversation about your products.

  3. Share high-quality product photos and videos to showcase your products and give customers a sense of what they can expect.

  4. Engage with your followers by responding to comments and questions, and asking for feedback on your products.

  5. Run giveaways and contests to drive engagement and encourage customers to try your products.

  6. Collaborate with influencers or bloggers in your industry to showcase your products to a wider audience.

  7. Utilize paid advertising on social media platforms to target specific demographics and increase the visibility of your products.

By using social media effectively, you can build brand awareness, increase sales, and create a community of loyal customers.

1. Setup Your Company Pages

Look. I know this seems silly, but you have to start somewhere. And if you already have pages setup, this is your annual reminder to go check and make sure the profile picture is up to date, the cover image is relevant, the URL is correct, and the bio is short, sweet, and to the point.

It doesn't hurt to create Company pages on all of the platforms right now. You don't have to use all of the platforms, but creating a handle on each of them for your business now is a good way to make sure you hold your brand's username until you're ready to use that platform.
Some platforms we'd recommend checking out for your wine or spirits brand, if you haven't already:
  • Pinterest (for aspirational or innovative wine or spirits brands)
  • TikTok (for humorous, funny, or trending wine or spirits brands)
  • YouTube (for wine or spirits brands with people with personality or a charismatic face of the brand)

2. Use Hashtags and Key Platform Features

Hashtags are hit or miss on every platform for whether they perform or not, but our logic is: doesn't hurt to try.

Instagram, in particular, recommends up to, but no more than 5 hashtags per post. In our own experience, we've seen very little traction with them, but every once in a while, a post will "pop off" because of a hashtag, so it doesn't hurt to include them in there.

We recommend on Instagram that you include at least one branded hashtag, so people can look up your brand or use it in their own posts. An example of a branded hashtag would be one that Bull in China uses. They're a bar tools company, and they use the hashtag "#bulltenders" for their bartender customers to also tag and use.

Another thing to note, is always try to checkout key platform features, especially if they're new, because platforms tend to favor those when they first launch them.

An example would be the TikTok live feature. When that rolled out, a lot of brands took advantage and saw a very engaged community grow around it.

3. Share High Quality Photos and Videos

Social media platforms are saturated with brands using the platforms correctly and poorly. Either way, they're full of posts that are distracting users. To get and hold their attention, you need to make sure you're posting quality photos and videos that 1. represent your brand well, and 2. entertain or educate users.

Make sure the photos and videos also portray spirits correctly. We see spirits brands, in particular, make some big mistakes with their imagery in their marketing.

4. Engage With Your Followers & Potential Customers

One of the best strategies for building your brand is social media presence and engagement.

For example, when people post questions on your photos, you need to answer! Customers praising your brand? A simple acknowledgment and kind words of thanks can go a long way.

Engage with customers in story resharesA big important Instagram engagement tactic to always remember is to make sure you're resharing any mentions or tags in your brand's story. It helps to include a cheeky or clever little comment in the story to show that you read or paid attention to your post.

For example, if someone posts a photo of a cocktail they made using your spirit, repost it to your story with the caption, "Well we're going to have to try this later." It's simple, but flattering to the original poster. This encourages them to continue to tag you (adding more to your UGC and brand awareness on the platform), as well as encourages other followers to post and tag you so they might get reshared.

Building relationships with your customer base is crucial to make your brand more personable and approachable. Done well, social media engagement turns your biggest fans into brand ambassadors and spreads brand visibility through word of mouth.

Giveaways help your social media presence

5. Run Giveaways and Collaborations

Giveaways and collaborations help increase engagement and interest in your product, as well as increase reach because you can run a program that asks for people to share your brand with their followers.
We've seen brands have success when they collaborate with a brand with an active customer base that shares similarities to their own customer base. Then, you can ask your followers to follow their account, and vice versa, in order to enter to win, which helps increase everyone's reach and engagement.

Here are some steps you can follow to plan a successful giveaway for your brand on social media:

  1. Set clear goals for your giveaway. What do you hope to achieve with the giveaway, such as increasing brand awareness, driving traffic to your website, or collecting email addresses for your marketing list? Having clear goals will help you plan and execute the giveaway effectively.

  2. Choose a prize that is relevant to your brand and will be appealing to your target audience.

  3. Decide on the details of the giveaway, such as how it will be promoted, how participants can enter, and how the winner will be selected.

  4. Create promotional materials for the giveaway, such as social media posts, email campaigns, and landing pages on your website. Be sure to include all relevant details, such as the prize, how to enter, and the terms and conditions.

  5. Promote the giveaway across your social media channels and other marketing channels. Encourage participants to share the giveaway with their own followers to increase its reach.

  6. Monitor the progress of the giveaway and track your results. This will help you understand what works and what doesn't, and allow you to make any necessary adjustments.

  7. Choose a winner and announce the results of the giveaway. Be sure to follow any legal requirements, such as obtaining release forms from the winner.

By following these steps and being strategic in your planning, you can run a successful social media giveaway that helps you achieve your marketing goals.

6. Collaborate With Influencers

Influencer marketing is a type of marketing that involves collaborating with individuals who have a large and engaged following on social media or other online platforms. These individuals, known as "influencers," often have expertise or credibility in a particular area or industry, and they use their platforms to share content, recommendations, and opinions with their followers.

Brands work with influencers to promote their products or services. This can involve the influencer sharing sponsored content about the business or its products, hosting giveaways or contests, or collaborating on product development or marketing campaigns.

Influencer marketing can be an effective way for businesses to reach new audiences and build brand awareness. It can also help businesses establish credibility and trust with consumers by leveraging the influence of trusted sources.

However, it's important for businesses to be selective in choosing influencers to work with, and to ensure that the partnerships are authentic and align with the values of both the business and the influencer.

Paid Social Ads for Wine & Spirits Brands are important for growing reach7. Paid Social Ads Are Key in Reaching New Audiences

Paid social advertising is important because it allows businesses to reach a specific and targeted audience on social media platforms. With paid advertising, businesses can choose who they want to target based on factors such as location, age, interests, and behaviors. This allows businesses to get their message in front of the right people at the right time, which can help increase brand awareness, drive traffic to their website, and generate leads and sales.

Paid social advertising also has the advantage of being highly measurable. Most social media platforms have robust analytics tools that allow businesses to track the performance of their ads and see how they are performing in real-time. This can help businesses optimize their campaigns and get the most out of their advertising spend.

Overall, paid social advertising is a powerful tool for businesses looking to reach and engage with their target audience on social media.
